Biography

I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of New Mexico (Department of Civil, Construction & Environmental Engineering). I undertook my master's education in Civil Engineering at the University of Pau and the Adour Countries, France. I got my bacherlor's degree in Petroleum Geoscience from my home country, Ghana. My research is currently focused on using the micropolar fluid theory to characterize the flow of microcapsules in water through geothermal fractures. I am interested in fluid mechanics, more specifically computational fluid dynamics (CFD) of any sort. I have had the opportunity to use Fortran and the Ansys Fluent software to model 2D and 3D laminar flows. I would like to work on and learn more about uncertainty quantification in CFD.

Motivation

I believe working in a non-academic research institute in addition to my experience from an academic institution would give me a broader perspective of current research ideas that are being pursued by the industry ,and would equip me with certain skills that I might be limited in. Also, this internship gives me an opporunity to get mentored by experts who have built legacies and contributed to ground breaking projects. Lastly, I am positive that a community of like-minded people in this program would foster growth diversely and aid create some lasting relationships.
