Biography
My name is Adam Trojak, and I am currently a Computer Science student at UIC. I am Polish, (born in the US) and I speak both English and Polish fluently. I have recently taken part in the Intro to HPC Bootcamp program, where I was able to get hands on experience using the Perlmutter supercomputer and training LLM's. I have also worked for the Robotics and Motion Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where I created a visualization tool to replay the motion of simulated robots as well as motion captured from physical robots. My skillset has been growing continuously since the beginning of my studies at UIC, and I am looking forward to collaborating with researchers in the domains of AI, robotics, and energy. I am also an incredibly hard worker. While maintaining my academic excellence (3.95 GPA), I work Monday to Friday as a Package Handler at UPS, CACH. I am always at least five minutes early to school and work, and my performance is superb in both. I am very exited for this opportunity to learn more, and apply the skills I have been acquiring.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Computer Systems and a Minor in Finance, expecting to complete in May, 2027.
Academic Preparation
Computer Science courses that I have taken that prepare me for this summer internship experience include: Secure Web App Development, Software Design, Computer Design, Machine Organization, Programming Language Concepts, Data Structures, Programming Practicum, Program Design. Relevant courses that have prepared me for this summer internship include Applied Statistical methods, and Applied Linear Algebra. I am also taking part in Advanced Topics in AI for Science: A Student Training Series through Argonne Leadership Computing Facility this October to November, which will refresh my HPC skills and introduce new topics in AI for science for me.
Research/Publications
I worked with the researchers at the Robotics and Motion Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Chicago during a summer internship, where I created a visualization tool to replay the movement of simulated robotics and replay data captured from physical robots. I am listed at this site here under June 2024 - Aug 2024: https://pab47.github.io/alumni-undergrads.html Video demo of my visualization tool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYlf2gbSums&feature=youtu.be Source code: https://github.com/Trojak0/mujoco-simulate-csv-replay

Motivation
I would like to participate in this program because it would connect me with scientific researchers utilizing HPC to advance Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability research, and that is a goal that I wish to be a part of. I know that I am capable of contributing to any and all NAIRR projects, and I would love to use my skills to progress innovation and science. I would like to join the SRP community because we share common goals, and I have already met many wonderful students and faculty during my time at the Intro to HPC Bootcamp, and it would be invaluable to me if I was able to reconnect with them as well as foster new connections in the SRP community. I am looking for a mentor to guide me through the world of HPC and AI for scientific research, and SRP has the most talented and open mentors. I hope to get hands on experience advancing AI research during this program, as well as make strong connection with the scientific community at SRP. It is my dream to work at a National Laboratory, and this experience with SRP would be a great step towards this goal. Overall, I would like to participate in this program to build a lasting connection with scientists and researchers in the fields that interest me most, accelerate my career goals, and to contribute to valuable research.
