Biography
My name is Abubakar Sidiq Bolakale, and I am a Computer Science student at Grambling State University with a deep interest in software development, artificial intelligence, and system design. I’m passionate about using technology to solve real problems and make everyday life more efficient and meaningful. Over the past year, I’ve worked on several full stack and AI-driven projects, including a healthcare app that simplifies patient documentation and a voice assistant that helps users interact with technology more naturally. Beyond building projects, I enjoy mentoring other students in programming and algorithms, which has helped me grow as both a learner and a leader. I’m always curious about how things work and love exploring new tools, frameworks, and ideas that challenge me to think differently. My goal is to keep learning, keep building, and use technology to create solutions that have a real impact on people’s lives.

Research/Academic Interests
My research interests lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data systems, and human-centered computing. I’m particularly interested in how machine learning models can be designed to make decisions more transparent, efficient, and trustworthy. I’ve been exploring how AI can be applied to real-world problems such as healthcare automation and intelligent systems that adapt to user behavior. Academically, I’m drawn to studying how data is processed, secured, and used to train models that learn from complex patterns. I enjoy experimenting with frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow to understand how algorithms work under the hood and how small improvements can lead to meaningful performance gains. What excites me most about research is the process of asking questions that don’t yet have answers and using data and experimentation to find them. I hope to contribute to projects that push the boundaries of AI while keeping ethical and practical impact in mind.

Motivation
I want to join the Sustainable Research Pathways program because I believe that science and technology are strongest when they include diverse voices, ideas, and experiences. As a computer science student, I’ve seen how access to mentorship and opportunity can completely change a person’s path, and I’m excited about the chance to be part of a community that values that kind of growth and inclusion. What draws me most to this program is the chance to learn directly from researchers and professionals who are shaping the future of artificial intelligence while also building a network that lasts beyond the summer. I’m eager to gain hands-on research experience, strengthen my technical and analytical skills, and learn how AI can be used responsibly to solve real-world problems. More than anything, I want to contribute, learn, and grow in a space where curiosity, collaboration, and community drive innovation. I see this experience as a step toward becoming not only a better researcher but also someone who helps open doors for others the way this program does.
